I'm sure it's probably accurate because grammar is nonsense and I'm not claiming to be an authority on it I'm just talking about a pet peeve, but I've noticed a big shift in the way people use the word resonate and it drives me NUTS. Instead of saying "the Barbie movie resonated with me" now people say "I resonate with the Barbie movie" and everything about it sounds so wrong to my ear and I hate it.

I have never heard this before but thanks I hate it.

It's so bad, I think it might be a generational thing because I've only been seeing it recently from 25 and unders on social media.

The phrase “I resonate with” is not the proper usage of the metaphorical phrase “resonate with,” so you should not use it. Instead, you should say, “That resonates with me,” to convey that you are in harmony with a person or idea.

You're right, Anon.
