The better question is, why aren't we on DW.

Personally I do not have one half decent username here, there is not a lot of customization and you get like 5 icons.

No one uses anything but the default.

That is one of three problems.

IJ layouts are ugly and ableist, so I don't count that either.

Usernames I understand, but DW has more customization options and usability than IJ.

No, because you can choose how to view other people's entries and journals when logged in. You can pick seeing whatever the journal owner uses, your own style, or the DW default.

If you have greasemonkey or whatever the Chrome equivalent is, there's a script for that and it works on IJ.

On top of Russians, there were worse spam issues, more aggressive ads that are harder to block, and paid accounts are way more expensive for fewer perks.

I personally enjoyed the v-gifts.

Those were cute! I spent way too much on them, but looking back, what I shelled out for paid accounts to make that site usable was obscene.

Omg me too! I also remember an old line where they sent the cutest v-gifts with romantic messages to one another.

Oh yeah, I was on LJ at the time and things went downhill so fast. I had a lot of friends over there and almost all of them left.

Some of us came from GJ.
