CSA is reasonable to not want on the FP in a comm setting but are there any other subjects people shouldn't write about in RP?

This will be an unpopular opinion but I have never once seen cancer dealt with well in RP. Not when someone writes it in their own character, and not when they try to write a detailed account of that character's family member having it. It's never tasteful.

I don't want to see any kind of assault or abuse or toxic behavior painted as being accepted because someone is a drug addict or abused themselves. I don't want to see white people trauma when they can't have babies or their parents were unsupportive of them being gay. I don't need racists telling their sob stories. Or people writing copaganda. Anything where a privileged white person is crying about how hard life is for them can go, too.

Write about in RP or at a comm? Because there's a lot of shit I don't think is the kind of stuff that you need to explore at a comm, but I think it's okay to explore in a psl or more controlled setting.

Totally agree, anon. I think there's a huge difference between what's fine in a psl and what's fine in a larger group setting.

This is going to be a hot take but I think any SA is gross to write about in a comm setting. Most of us are women or trans people, which means a large portion of us have experienced sexual violence at some point in our lives. I have spoken to so many people on this server who have been traumatized by casual mentions of SA (and some writers who use it repeatedly as a plot device) on their FPs. To me it's just not worth whatever bullshit "i'M dEvElOpInG a ChArAcTeR" excuse people come up with, don't write about it in a public community.

If people would keep it to narratives under a labeled cut that would be one thing but they'll drop that bullshit into conversations in comment threads, too and in customs. No one should have to field that in their inboxes for a hobby so I'd rather ban it.
