I saved up $9,000 and had to put $3,600 down on an apartment (double deposit and first and last month rent because I did not have a job there yet). I moved across the country so I packed my car full of as much as I could and shipped it across the country on a semi, then I packed the rest of by belongings in a couple of suitcases and flew there. I got new things when I got there, the first thing was a bed, then so on and so forth.
